Wildlife Events Guide

Moth Trapping & Bat Detectives at Corfe Mullen MeadowsDo you want to know a little bit more about moths and bats? This first event will teach you how to become a "moth trapper" and "bat detective".

These fascinating creatures are hardly ever seen, but we will show you how to "see" and "hear" them with the aid of technology and a few useful tips!!

This event is being run by Dorset Wildlife Trust for the Nature Watch Corfe Mullen project.

Opening the Moth & Mammal TrapsJoin Dorset Wildlife Trust and Nature Watch Corfe Mullen as we open the moth traps and small mammal traps which were set the previous night.

If you have never seem a beautiful moth or tiny mouse up close, this is your chance.

Owl Forensics! The Dorset Wildlife Trust have been given a whole load of owl pellets from a barn owl site, and now want to know what they have been eating!

Local Wildlife News

Gathering for the River WalkIt's funny. The last report I wrote in July (just after the Nightjar & Glowworm Walk) started with me worrying about the weather. No changes there then! The Guided River Walk along the Stour at Bear Mead looked like it was going to be a complete washout. More "river" than "walk"...

Listening for NightjarsNature Watch Corfe Mullen held it's first ever wildlife event last night - a Twilight Walk on Barrow Hills hoping to encounter Nightjars and Glow-worms. I'm really chuffed to report that the event was a great success and really well attended. But did we see nightjars and glow-worms?
