Spotted Flycatchers Nesting : 18 June 2008 from Jane Adams on Vimeo.
Spotted Flycatchers nesting in my Corfe Mullen garden in a nestbox high on the side of my house. They are very late this year, so hopefully they will manage to bring up a brood successfully. These are the first pictures of them bringing nesting material to the box. |

Buzzard in Corfe Mullen Garden : Filmed by Ray Joyce from Jane Adams on Vimeo.
This buzzard is seen regularly in a Corfe Mullen garden that backs onto fields near to Haywards Lane. Buzzards are big birds of prey with a wing span of up to 60 inches. They mainly eat rabbits and carrion and have a mewing call. Once persecuted by gamekeepers they are now a protected bird and there numbers have increased. There are now approx 44,000 pairs breeding in the UK. |

Siskins Feeding : 5 June 2008 from Jane Adams on Vimeo.
A pair of siskins appeared in my Corfe Mullen garden this week in June but now seem to have gone. Obviously just passing through. Still, it was great to get a really good look at this pair as they fed on sunflower hearts on the garden feeder. The male is the brightly coloured one (very yellow) the female is browner with a small bit of yellow. They are very small birds, not much larger than a blue tit but can sometimes be mistaken for greenfinches (which are much bigger). |

Four Fledgling Long-Tailed Tits |

Fledgling Long-Tailed Tits from Jane Adams on Vimeo.
These four long-tailed tits must only just have fledged and were sitting all in a row on a bush in my front garden today (3 June 2008). They looked very unstable to me, but very cute. We had feared that a magpie had raided their nest, but it looks like at least four survived the attack. Photo by J Adams |

Spotted Flycatcher : 17 May 2008 from Jane Adams on Vimeo.
This spotted flycatcher came to check out the nestbox in my Corfe Mullen garden on the 17th May 2008. Unfortunately it obviously didn't fancy the accommodation as we haven't seen it again. Oh well, maybe next year! |
