This wasp nest was found fixed to the roof of a shed in the Central Avenue area of Corfe Mullen by Nicky Hoar at the beginning of May 2008. This has probably been built by the newly emerged queen common wasp, who has built this small nest to lay eggs and increase the size of her followers! This nest will probably get quite big as the season progresses. It is made from rotten wood, mashed up into a paper like substance. |
